Most IVR systems are designed so they integrate with an external system. For example, a bank by phone IVR is integrated with the core bank automation software which is the primary product for our OEM customer. They provide our IVR alongside their software system to banks. When a banking customer calls the IVR, it interacts with the core bank recordkeeping system to provide information such as well as perform transactions.
Data integration is most often handled via XML over HTTP. The next most popular method is via file exchange. Older traditional methods such as direct database access can also be used.
